Is it important for a keyword to have good search volume or can I write my on the keyword that has no search volume

I was researching some topics for my blog. But, after some research, I found that there are some keywords in my niche having 0 volume showing in the tool, and the keywords that are having high volume are really competitive. Suggest me please What to do and How??? If keyword volume is necessary How to find those less competitive high volume keywords
