Considering what's going on with the website titles in Google is perplexing. Just because Google overrides them does not mean it's an end of the story. Frankly, most of the titles are not optimized. But, if you are very sure about the same and have considered all the best practices, don't give up and just re-frame or tweak a little.
Even after doing everything correct if things don't change, hard luck.
My experience: Most of the titles that I had provided are intact. Few don't match my expectations, but they are not as atrocious as being reported online.
