Since the starting of december my Software as a Service Project lost nearly 2/3 of it's traffic (dropped to 40k users daily). So i started to update every inch of it, added more valueable content, make it more easy to use and so on.
As a final step, i bought an old .net domain for 2,500€ the domain was registered first in 2014 and had the whole time no content on it.
The reason i bought it was because i saw a new site that ranks suddenly a lot higher than mine with content and usability made by a 5€/h worker from a freelancer platform with an older domain than mine.
So i changed over 3 weeks ago and i just want to let you know, nothing has changed - keep your money in your pockets. 👌
