We have two high DA (60+) sites that are authorities in the same niche.
After careful consideration, we've decided to merge them into one (one site will remain active and the other will be carefully redirected and moved over to subfolders on the main site).
Question: are there risks for us in doing this?
The fear here is that combining the two somehow weakens the relevance of the main one in Google's eyes and we end up effectively destroying both sites.
By doing this, we'll be adding dozens of additional .edu and .gov backlinks to our main site and tens of thousands of backlinks.
Any success stories from people who have done this?
I've seen success stories where sites have been split into multiple but never seen a success story of multiple sites merging into one powerful site.
