So, we have a website that's been around for about three years. I'm biased, but I think it's a good idea for a business and those who know about it seem to love it. I've done everything I think you're supposed to. I'm not a bad web developer. I built the site entirely using Wordpress and plugins and made a few customizations along the way. I've tuned it as best I can to make it as fast as possible and we pay for some pricey VPS hosting. The site is at pixeoapp.com (I'll happily remove the link if that's not allowed by the mods, but it seemed okay based on the rules of the thread).
SEO wise I swear I've done everything I've been able to based on waaay too much reading about DIY SEO. I've reached out to influencers, journalists and we've even been featured in major sites in our niche. We do monthly giveaways to build a following. We also have had good success on Instagram and have a pretty sizable following. I've written at least 50 lengthy articles focusing on niche keywords in my space to negligible effect. I've added these articles on-site and medium, have social platforms running non-stop.
I should say too, that it's not that we're not making any headway, the posts and site get traffic and it's growing, but my word it is slow going. We've been slogging for well over two years now. Backlinks take time, Social takes time, etc. at the end of the day, I'm just wondering if this is the best use of my time and maybe I'd do better hiring.
My question is this, should I hire an SEO guru? Or am I just missing something? As a follow-up, would you hire an SEO freelancer on one of the gig sites or try and find one locally?
