So, I’m a freelancer who keeps busy writing for various companies. They typically give me keywords and geo targets. I’m comfortable writing good content for SEO, but pretty green when it comes to keyword planning.
Let’s say my wife wanted me to build her a website to help promote her [made up] business, let’s say lactation consulting for breast feeding mothers.
I’ve found some tools that can help me determine key words (although I’m always open to more). I’m comfortable writing content focusing on “breast feeding help” or “location consulting near me.”
Where I’m curious is how to rate the competition. I can do a google search for “lactation consultation my city) and I get a few local businesses on the first page (after all of the sponsored pages). I’m curious if there is a way to rate these pages’ SEO to determine how strong of a hold they have on their ranking.
If a site has excellent SEO, it would be hard to compete and our plan would need to include various marketing methods. If the SEO competition is weak, we could take the front page in some time (albeit lots of time and work).
Is there a tool (preferably free) that would help analyze a competitor’s site to see how well they’re handing their SEO?
Thanks!
