Is text within SVG indexed by search engines?

I'm wondering if within a webpage I use an embedded SVG that contains text. Will that text get indexed?

I assume yes, as SVG is XML.

How about if I use an <img src="...svg"> element and the SVG contains text, will that SVG get indexed?
