Should I recreate content of a broken link without seeing what it was?

Hey SEOs,

I'd like to know if any of you guys have recreated content that was on a broken link without being able to see what was there originally?

Usually, Web.Archive.org (WayBackMachine) would let you see what was there, but sometimes it doesn't. The URL structure makes it clear what the topic was about. Would it still be a good idea to press ahead and create content on that topic for the purpose of backlink outreach?
