Deleting an old page but wanting to keep its link Juice?

So for this small company i recently started working for has had this site for a few years. Trying to clean up some of their old test pages that are showing up in google results. I still feel new to this html thing, mostly the SEO side of it. But anyways what's the best way for handling it? Right now if you search "blog" and the company this old test page that was made before i came on board comes up. Does deleting this mean that when people click on that link from searches they'll be taken to the 404'd page? or will google remove that result quickly? I dont want to create a bunch of dead ends. Should this just be handled with a delete and then redirect?
