I'm seeing a new SERP feature at the top of certain searches, that is similar to the "Shopping" list of products, but it contains sponsored links to service businesses. I see it on a search for "Roof Vent" and similar searches, and in this case it is "10+ Roofers in your area", which seems to show a different implied intent than this SERP used to show. This changes the focus from a product intent (I want to know about or buy a vent) to a service intent (I want a roofer to come and install a roof vent).
When I search to see my position on the SERP, I always use incognito mode, and often use the Search URL parameter "&near=city" which works for most SERP features (I can tell by the Google Map showing the map of the target city) but this new feature isn't keyed to this ... it is showing my tiny village, based no doubt on my IP address. I'm curious if other people are seeing this, and they have found a way to change the location of that 10+ services. Also, is it always services? Has this been common on other SERPS and it's just new in my niche?
