Best way to have telephone links on your site?

Wondering what the best way to implement telephone links are.

I'm currenlty doing: <a href="tel:\*\* \*\* \*\* \*\*">** ** ** **</a>

Semrush says these are incorrect URL formats and uncrawlable. Only question is, does Google have a problem with it being like this? or is there another way that's more "best practice"?
