My site: www.fotografia.bg, Premium theme: SceneOne, Plugins: Wp rocket, shortpixel, amp, gue Yoast to amp, Problem: my site stats in PAGESPEED are terrible(on pingdom and gtmetrix are fine), it says that I do not have lazy load on the theme. Upon question to the support of the theme why it doesn't have lazy load and the stats are horrible they sent me this, which I don't know if its reliable, because I am not an expert in this field. // Message from the support: The theme will load fast even though the pagespeed insights give lower results due to the larger images and non-minified files and caching.
We are not minifying any files or using any cache which gives you a better look at the internal structure. If you're a developer this will show how the theme is through browser pagesource which won't be there if minified.
And we are also not compressing the images to the level pageinsights requires a higher page score. This is because the theme is based on photography and compressing it with pageinsight requirements will give very low quality images. It will be ok for a corporate site but not for one intended for photography.
These are the reasons why it's giving a low score.
The slideshow in homepage loads the first image and keeps loading the others while it displays them. It doesn't wait to load all of them to display the slideshow. This is a little like lazy loading. The is the best method for slideshows which use transitions and autoplay to load this way. Otherwise lazy loading will pause each image without transition and wait to load the next image and display. Won't be a good UX experience.
The Fotorama fullscreen slideshows use lazy loading. Each image is only loaded when requested.
The theme is optimized for seo by using correct hierarchy of heading tags. Adding sidebars after contents. Heading tags can be detected as headings and the correct classes are set for entry title headings.
You can use Yoast Seo to analyze and improve page contents.
