I need some help, after medic i'm just confused.

So i have a website in the vaping niche, which was doing well up until the medic update hit.

I've been keeping a close eye on our competition, and it seems 95% of all websites in the UK in our space have been negatively effected, except two that i can find.

One has a baffling backlinks profile, with thousands of backlinks coming from blog comment sections all with pornographic anchor text, but they are one of the only companies it seems is thriving after medic. Another website with similar spammy tactics was completely wiped out by medic.

I'm struggling to see any consistency or correlation in the winners and losers after medic. I know we should focus on EAT but even there i cant really find a formula that works, some websites with everything have been wiped out but others without seem to have improved and with other examples the opposite is true.

Even with SERP before medic if i typed any popular vape related product the first page would list exactly that product ranking the biggest and best uk based websites. Now its hard to find a single uk based website in the first 5 pages, and thats if the product your searching for appears on the SERP at all. I've resorted to searching for products directly in to the search bars of the popular websites i know when doing price comparisons.

I'm struggling to find a path to get us back to growth, i cant see any consistency or pattern and it seems like the whole niche is something google is trying to drown out bar a handful of websites.

If any one has any insights on this please share.
